Indiana, Pa. – The Edinboro football team dropped a 20-10 decision to host IUP on a soggy day at George P. Miller Stadium.
Edinboro held a 10-7 lead at the half, but IUP scored on 21-yard pass from Nico Marchitelli to Quinn Zinoble with 2:40 left in the third to take a 13-10 lead. The Crimson Hawks set the final with a 19 -yard catch and run from Marchitelli to Dayjure Stewart with 10:20 left in the game.
Trailing 7-0, Edinboro was forced to punt, but Hilton Ridley muffed a punt and
Killian Cooper fell on the loose ball setting the Scots up at the IUP 14. Edinboro pushed the ball to the IUP 3-yardline, but the drive stalled and
Reed Martin connected on the 20-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3.
The Scots took the lead at the 7:13 mark of the second quarter when
Matt Carlisle found
Mike Watkins for a 58-yard touchdown making it 10-7. Edinboro would carry that lead into the break.
Carlisle led the offense going 15-of-28 for 208 yards and a score. He also led the rushing attack with 61 yards. Watkins was the top target for Carlisle catching seven passes for 95 yards and a score.
Brodie List hauled in three passes for 72 yards.
Logan Dexter led the Scots in tackles with 11 stops, seven being solo to go with an interception.
Malcolm Johnson added nine stops.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they host Clairon at noon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
