Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro football team dropped a 34-20 decision to visiting Clarion Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
Clarion struck first on a Will Alexander one-yard rushing score with 8:17 on the clock in the first quarter. Edinboro leveled the score with a methodical 15-play, 70-yard drive capped by an
Isaac Bernard to Amani Bailey 14-yard touchdown with two seconds left in the first.
Anthony Guercio gave Clarion the lead back with a 55-yard touchdown run at the 7:23 mark of the second. The Golden Eagles took advantage of an Edinboro muffed punt to add one more score before the break to make it 21-7 at the half.
Clarion scored twice in the third pushing the lead to 34-7, but Edinboro cut into the lead at the 12:47 mark of the third when
Teagan Brown caught a 21-yard touchdown from Bernard to trim the lead to 34-14.
Brain Trobel rounded out the scoring finishing the 12-play, 94-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run setting the final 34-20 with 16 seconds left.
Brown led the offense with 10 catches for 154 yards and a touchdown. Bernard was 30-of-47 for 324 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
CJ Waldier led the defense with 13 tackles with eight solo stops.
Zach Malpica tallied seven stops with 1.5 tackles for loss.
Guercio led the Golden Eagles with 155 rushing yards while throwing for three scores. Griffin Buzzell led the defense with eight tackles.
The Scots return to action next Saturday when they travel to Seton Hill. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
