Men’s Basketball Falls at Fairmont State

Fairmont, W.Va. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped an 85-64 decision to host Fairmont State on the second day of the Joe Retton Classic.
 
Madior Seye scored the first four points for the Fighting Scots as they jumped out to a 4-2 lead out of the gate. The Falcons scored five straight to grab a 7-4 advantage. JJ Eubank tied the game with triple at the 16:17 mark.
 
The teams traded buckets and at the 11:07 mark Bernie Blunt hit a jumper to trim the Fairmont State lead to 17-14. The Falcons then went on a 22-7 run to build a 39-21 lead with 3:29 showing in the first half.
 
The 18-point lead would hold into the half. Fairmont State took a 45-27 advantage into the break.
 
Fairmont State pushed the lead to 28, 64-36, at the 13:35 mark of the second half. The Scots would cut the lead to 19 twice in the second, but that was as close as they would get.
 
Ian McNeill was the Scots leading scorer with 12 points to go with eight rebounds. Will Taylor also reached double figures with 10. Daunte Wilcott added nine points and eight boards. Seye also tallied nine points.
 
Tyheil Peterson led the Falcons with 15 points. Tommy Williams and David Jolinder each scored 14.
 
The Scots are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Malone for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Pioneers.
