West Chester, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped an 81-70 decision to host West Chester Saturday afternoon in PSAC crossover action.
The teams played an even first 10 minutes with
Bernie Blunt scoring at 10:44 to tie the score 17-17. West Chester went on a 13-4 run over the next five minutes to build a 30-21 lead on a Jordan Kellier free throw.
The Scots closed the gap with a five minute run of their own outscoring the Golden Rams 13-6 capped by a
JJ Eubank triple with 44 seconds to play in the first to trim the lead to 36-34. Elijah Allen made a layup with 6 seconds to play to make it 38-34 West Chester at the break.
The first five points of the second half went to the Golden Rams pushing the lead to 43-34 with 18:44 on the clock. Edinboro answered with four points from
Aaron Hopkins and an old-fashioned 3-point play from
Will Taylor as part of a 7-2 spurt to trim the lead to 45-41 with 16:39 remaining.
West Chester pulled back ahead by 10,-52-42, when after Allen capped a 7-1 run at the 14:54 mark. The Scots fought back again with an 8-2 run keyed by triples from
Ryan Ladjevich and Blunt to cut the lead to 54-50 at the 13:26 mark.
The Golden Rams scored the next six points and then didn't see their lead fall below eight the rest of the way.
Blunt led the Scots in scoring notching 25 points to go with six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Daunte Wilcott also reached double figures with 12 points and two boards. Ladjevich added seven points and four rebounds.
Allen led the Golden Rams with 28 points while Kellier notched 15 and Joshua Walker finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Scots are back in action on Dec. 13 when they travel to D'Youville for a 7 p.m. tipoff against the Saints.
