Buffalo, N.Y. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped a 65-58 decision to host D'Youville Wednesday night in non-conference action.
The Saints jumped out early taking a 21-10 lead at the 9:28 mark of the first half after a Trayton Trice layup. Edinbro clawed back scoring five straight on buckets by
Daunte Wilcott, Ian McNeil and a Ryan Ladjjevich free throw to trim the lead to 21-15 with 8:10 to play in the first.
Kevin Thompson broke the run with a pair of free throws, but the Scots went on an 11-0 run paced by six points form
Will Taylor to take a 26-23 lead at the under four minute media timeout. The Edinboro lead held at three, 30-27, after
Bernie Blunt connected on a pair of free throws, but D'Youville closed on an 8-2 run to take a 35-32 lead into the break.
Madior Seye trimmed the lead to one, 37-36, with a dunk at 17:24 of the second, but a 12-6 spurt pushed the Saint lead to 49-42 at the 14:00 mark of the second. D'Youville would build the lead to 59-45 with 6:42 to play after a Chase Jenkins jumper. The Scots would cut into the lead late, but D'Youville held off the late charge to earn the win.
Blunt scored 10 of his 12 points at the free throw line to go with four rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. Wilcott just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Seye also scored nine points while grabbing five boards.
Trice paced the Saint offense with 24 points while grabbing six boards. Jenkins added 19 points and eight rebounds.
The Scots are back in action on Monday when they host Millersville at 3 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
