Edinboro, Pa. – The 2023 PSAC Championships get underway on Wednesday, Feb 15. with the final day on Saturday, Feb 18. The Fighting Scots have had a season to remember in the pool with countless personal bests, with some also breaking into the Edinboro all-time records. The Scots have numerous seeded swimmers for the Championships which are listed below.
Stephanie Sipple takes the highest seed of the Championships for Edinboro with third in the 200 fly.
"The team did a great job second semester racing," said Head Coach
Chris Rhodes. "If we approach this meet the same way, we are going to have some great swims."
There will be eight sessions for the 2023 PSAC Swimming Championships. Morning sessions will begin at 10 a.m. with evening sessions beginning at 6 p.m. apart from the final session which begins at 5 p.m.
Day 1 begins with the 200 individual medley, 50 free, and 1000 free. The finals will include the 800 free relay.
Stephanie Sipple is seeded 12th in the 1000 free for Edinboro with a time of 10:52.84.
The 200 IM sees
Lara De Carne seeded 11th and
Paige Smith seeded 12th,
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz is seeded 27th for the men.
Makayla Scheu is the 13th seed in the 50 free with
Avery Zuk 24th, Leia 30th and
Abigail Greene 39th.
Ted Kinney takes the 12th seed for the men, with
Luke Edmonds 20th,
Frank Barger 24th, and
Elijah Innis 26th.
Day 2 includes the 400 individual medley, 100 fly, and the 200 free. The evening session will see the finals for the 200 free relay and the 400 medley relay.
The 400 IM sees
Paige Smith seeded sixth after a time of 4:37.75, followed in seventh by
Lara De Carne at 4:39.03.
Baila Bugara is seeded 17th in her first event at a PSAC championships.
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz is seeded 24th for the men.
The 100 fly has
Makayla Scheu seeded in 19th,
Abigail Greene in 26th and
Rebecca Stone in 31st.
Elijah Innis takes the 14th seed in the men's, with
Luke Edmonds in 26th.
Avery Zuk is seeded highest for Edinboro in the 200 free in 20th, with
Liliana Delgado in 26th and
Cara Della-Toffalo in 30th. The men's sees
Armando Apigna-Castellanos take 31st with
Frank Barger in 33rd.
Day 3 sees the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, and the 200 fly. The finals will include the 200 free relay.
Paige Smith is the highest seed for the Scots in the 500 free in 16th, with
Cara Della-Toffalo in 23rd.
The 100 back sees two sixth place seeds for Edinboro with
Leia Ross for the women after a season best of 58.48, and
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz for the men at 51.30. Ross is also seeded ninth in the 100 breast, with
Jacob Bettano highest for the men in 17th.
Stephanie Sipple looks to break into the NCAA cut times in the 200 fly as she takes the third seed into the event.
Paige Smith takes the 11th seed in the 1650 free, with Sipple also taking 15th.
The final day begins with the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast and 1650 free. The championships end with the 400 free relay.
The 100 free has
Makayla Scheu seeded 13th, and
Avery Zuk 22nd. For the men
Ted Kinney takes 23rd going into the event.
Stephanie Sipple is the highest seed for Edinboro in the 200 back in 13th, with
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz also taking 12th for the men.
Leia Ross takes another sixth seed into the 200 breast, with
Lara De Carne in 10th.
Jacob Bettano closes out the individual races of the championships as a 20th seed for the men.
