Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team opened conference play with a 5-2 win over Shepherd on Saturday night, helping head coach Kody Duncan earn his 100th career win. With the win, the Edinboro women improve to (3-7) overall and (1-0) in PSAC play.
Doubles
In doubles Edinboro would earn the point with two wins out of three. The Scots earned the early advantage after Cecillia Carayol and Maria Clara Salomao prevailed with a 6-1 final.
Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai clinched the point with a smooth 6-0 win over Charlotte Pardue and Kambria Kosanic.
Marina Zottele and Rafaella Negrao De Almeida came up short to Marketa Beladova and Ximena Bolanos 6-4.
Singles
In singles the Scots hung tough and pulled out four wins out of six to help secure the victory.
Carayol earned her third singles win with a 6-2, 6-3 final over Bolanos.
Zottele cruised past Mooney with a 6-0, 6-0 final as she earned her second win of the season.
Nadai kept the pattern going with her 6-0, 6-0 win over Pardue as she improved to (4-6) in singles.
Salomao concluded the match with the third 6-0, 6-0 final as she earned her fourth win in singles.
