Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro women came up short against Fairmont State University, 3-4 on Sunday night. With the loss, the women drop to (3-8) overall.
Doubles
In doubles the Falcons would earn the early 1-0 lead after winning all three matches.
Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Marina Zottele fell short of Maria Fonseca and Elodie Buclin 6-4.
Cecillia Carayol and Maria Clara Salomao were bested by Ainara Pastor Garcia and Emme McKnight 6-3.
Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai were defeated by Candela Sevilla and Luiza Parreira 6-2.
Singles
In singles the Scots battled hard and were one win away from claiming the victory.
De Almeida picked up a huge 6-4, 6-1 win over Garcia to give the Scots their first point of the match.
Zottele prevailed in a close match that went into an extra set. Zottele defeated Parreira 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 to give Edinboro another point.
Nadai gave Edinboro their third and final point with her 6-0, 6-2 win over McKnight.
