Fairfax, Va. – After the first day of wrestling at the 2023 MAC Championships, three Edinboro wrestlers advanced to the second day of action.
Ryan Burgos,
Jared McGill and
Cody Mulligan are all still alive and wrestling in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
Burgos opened his tournament with a 3-2 victory over Kaleb Burgess of Buffalo. He advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 decision over Kody Komara of Kent State. In the semis, Burgos was pinned by Nate Higley of George Mason.
McGill opened his day with an 11-0 major over Chase Diehl of SIUE. In the quarters, McGill dropped a 12-6 decision to Tyler Stoltzfus of Lock Haven. McGill advanced to the consolation quarterfinals when Anthony DeRosa bowed out due to injury default.
Mulligan drew a first-round bye before dropping a 12-6 decision to No. 5 Ethan Laird. Mulligan kept his season alive with a 9-1 major decision over Brad Morrison of Lock Haven.
Wrestling resumes on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the consolation semifinals.
