Indiana, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped both halves of a PSAC West doubleheader to host IUP Thursday afternoon.
In the opener, IUP scored a walk-off win 6-5 and then in the second game the Crimson Hawks earned an 8-0 victory.
Trailing 1-0 in the first game, the Scots took advantage of an IUP error to grab a 2-1 lead on back-to-back RBI singles from
Lauren Bush and
Antonia Schaefer in the top of the second.
The Crimson Hawks retook the lead in the bottom of the second on a three-run homer from Amanda Fischer.
Kendra Keyser scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fourth to pull Edinboro within one, 4-3.
IUP would add a run in the bottom of the frame to extend the lead to 5-3.
Cheyenne Shughart hit a solo shot in the fifth to get the Scots back to within one.
Stephanie Krick tied the game in the top of the seventh with her own home run.
Jordan Sylvia delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh for the Crimson Hawks.
Schaefer and Krick each notched a pair of hits and an RBI for the Scots.
Mackenzie Quider and Keyser each tallied a double. Joran Lauer took the loss in the circle allowing a pair of runs in 4.1 innings of relief of
Macy Sral.
In the second game, IUP built a 4-0 lead through three innings paced by a two-run homer from Delaney Patella. The Crimson Hawks scored four more in the sixth to end the game.
Shughart picked up the Scots only hit in second game.
Lauren Bush took the loss in the circle allowing six runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts.
The Scots are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Seton Hill. The first game of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
