Softball Drops Two to Visiting Gannon

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped a pair of games to Gannon Tuesday afternoon in PSAC West action.
 
In the opener, the Scots dropped an 8-3 decision before falling 12-3 in the second half of the doubleheader.
 
Gannon jumped out to a 3-0 lead in top of the second of the opener. Edinboro got two runs back in the bottom of the frame on a home run by Morgan Spitler.
 
Gannon extended the lead to 4-2 on a throwing error in the third. Stephanie Krick singled home Cheyenne Shughart to trim the lead 4-3 after three.
 
Andrea Fox knocked in three insurance runs as part of a four-run fourth for the Golden Knights to set the final.
 
Antonia Schaefer and Shughart each recorded a pair of hits to lead the offense. Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing three runs on two hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
 
Gannon jumped out early in the second game with three runs in the top of the first. Mackenzie Quider trimmed the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the inning with a two-run homer.
 
Fox hit a home run in the fourth to push the lead to 4-2 before Gannon broke the game open with eight runs in the fifth.
 
Stephanie Krick tried to pull the Scots back in with her fourth home run of the year in the bottom of the fifth, but 12-3 would be the final.
 
Krick was 3-for-3 while Quider finished the game 2-for3. Lauren Bush took the loss on the rubber allowing six runs on five hits over four innings of work. She struck out seven while allowing three walks.
 
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host UPJ at 2 p.m. at the Edinboro softball field.
