Softball Splits Pair of Games at Clarion

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team took the opener 1-0 before falling 4-1 in the night cap to host Clarion Saturday afternoon in PSAC West action.

In the opener, Antonia Schaefer led off the game with an infield single. She moved to second with a stolen base before stealing third. Cheyenne Shughart brought her home with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.

That was all the Scots would need as the defense and starting pitcher Macy Sral made the run lead up picking up the shutout allowing six hits while striking out five and walking four.

In game two, Morgan Spitler put Edinboro up 1-0 in the top of the third with a single that plated Stephanie Krick. The Golden Eagles answered with a run in the third and took the lead with an unearned tally in the fifth.

Clarion pushed across a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to set the final at 4-1.

Spitler and Maura Pasquale each finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate. Lauren Bush took loss in the circle allowing two runs, one earned, over 4.1 innings pitched on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host IUP at the Edinboro Softball Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
