Indiana, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped both halves of a PSAC West doubleheader against IUP Friday afternoon. The Scots served as the home team after the twin bill was switched to IUP's facility.
The Scots fell in the opener 7-1 before dropping an 11-2 contest in the second half of the twin bill.
In the opener, IUP scored first with a run in the second. The Crimson Hawks extended the lead to 3-0 with single runs in the third and fourth.
In the fifth IUP scored three runs to push the advantage to 6-0. Sydney Lochocki got the Scots on the board with a sac fly in the bottom of the fifth scoring Lauren Bush. IUP added an insurance run in the sixth to set the final.
Antonia Schaefer paced the Edinboro offense going 2-for-2 with a walk. Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing five runs, three earned, over 4.1 innings of work striking out three and walking one.
In game two, each team posted a run in the first with Cheyenne Shughart driving in the run for the Scots on an RBI groundout.
The Crimson Hawks scored twice in the third to take a 3-1 lead and broke the game open in the fourth scoring six runs to make it 9-1.
Mackenzie Quider got a run back in the bottom of the fourth singling home Emily Lacki cutting the lead to 9-2. IUP would strike for two mor in the fifth and hold the Scots off the board to invoke the eight-run rule.
Kearson Wagner recorded a pair of hits to lead the Edinboro offense. Lauren Bush took the loss for the Scots allowing nine runs on 12 hits.
Edinboro is back in action on Sunday when they host Clarion at the Edinboro Softball Field at 2 p.m.
