Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped a pair of tight games to California (PA) Thursday afternoon at the Edinboro Softball Field.
The Scots fell 4-2 in the opener before dropping a 7-6 decision in the nightcap.
In the opener, Cal took the lead 1-0 on a Britney Wilson RBI single. Charity Henderson extended the lead with an RBI single in the fifth.
Stephanie Krick put the Scots on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. The Vulcans scored twice in the seventh to extend their lead to 4-1.
Morgan Spitler hit a solo home run for Edinboro in the bottom of the frame setting the final.
Spitler had two of the Scots three hits in the opening game.
Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing four runs, three earned on eight hits over seven innings of work.
Cal jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a four-run third inning in the second game. Edinboro responded scoring six runs in the bottom of the third keyed by a two-run single from
Olivia Weller.
Mackenzie Carson put the Vulcans back ahead with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to lift Cal to victory.
Kearson Wagner and
Antonia Schaefer each collected a pair of hits for the Scots.
Lauren Bush took the loss in the circle allowing seven runs, six earned, with four strikeouts and two walks.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Slippery Rock for a PSAC West doubleheader slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
