Men’s Tennis Sweeps Shaw in NCAA Regional

Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro men swept Shaw University 6-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Regional. With the win, Edinboro improves to (18-3) overall and has increased their winning streak to eleven consecutive matches. The Scots move onto the second round as they face the winner of Fairmont State and Mercyhurst, on Saturday afternoon. 

Doubles 
In doubles the Scots jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the race to two wins. The Edinboro men picked up two convincing wins as they headed into singles with strong momentum. 

Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini defeated Paul Charvoz and Tom Letecheur 6-0 as they improved to (14-6) in doubles. 

Ruben Acuna and Kaio Sacchi capped off the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Aakarshit Mahajan and Ilya Skobelev as they earned their ninth straight win. 

Singles 
In singles Edinboro finished with five straight wins to clinch the victory 6-0. 

Sabio struck first with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mahajan. Sabio won his ninth consecutive singles match. 

Sacchi finished second in his 7-5, 6-2 win over Skobelev as he won his fourth straight match and pushed the Scots lead to 3-0. 

Acuna, Thibault Dorval and Gustavo Martins all clinched their match victories at the same time to conclude the afternoon. 

Acuna prevailed over Eduardo Valenca 6-3, 6-1 as he improved to (20-1) in singles. 

Dorval cruised past Charvoz 6-1, 6-1 as he won his fifth consecutive match in singles. 

Martins was victorious in his 6-0, 7-5 win over Letecheur, as he also earned his fifth consecutive match win. 

Up Next 
Edinboro will be back in action on Saturday at the Westwood Racquet Club at 4 p.m. to take on the winner of Fairmont State and Mercyhurst.
