Erie, Pa. -- In their second match of the week, the Edinboro women fell to Slippery Rock University 0-7 on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, Edinboro drops to (5-10) overall and (2-2) in conference play.
Doubles
In doubles the Rock would earn the point with three wins out of three, after Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Marina Zottele presented the Rock with their biggest challenge. De Almeida and Zottele fell to Sanchez and Isherwood 4-6.
Cecillia Carayol and Maria Clara Salomao drop their doubles match to Val del Toro and Lopez 1-6.
The Rock completed the doubles sweep when Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai were defeated by Sakhanova and Slovak 2-6.
Singles
The Rock proceeded to earn six straight points as Edinboro struggled to earn a win in singles.
The Scots kept it close as Carayol forced an extra set against Val del Toro. Carayol won the second set but eventually fell in a 1-6, 6-4, 6-10 final.
Riecken was defeated by Sakhanova 1-6, 0-6. Zottele fell to Lopez 0-6, 1-6. Nadai dropped her first match in weeks as she fell to Slovak 3-6, 2-6.
Salomao was swept by Lancaster 0-6, 0-6. De Almeida retired after a 0-6 first set against Sanchez.
