Erie, Pa. -- In their third match of the week, the Edinboro women fell to Mercyhurst University 0-7 on Friday afternoon. With the loss, Edinboro drops to (5-11) overall and (2-3) in conference play.
Doubles
In doubles the Lakers would earn the point with three wins out of three, after Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Marina Zottele presented the Lakers with their biggest challenge. De Almeida and Zottele fell to Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy 5-7.
Cecillia Carayol and Maria Clara Salomao drop their doubles match to Nadja Ostojic and Sara Bertolez Puente 4-6.
The Lakers completed the doubles sweep when Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai were defeated by Janice Theodora and Valentine Budin 3-6.
Singles
The Lakers proceeded to earn six straight points as Edinboro struggled to earn a win in singles.
The Scots kept it close as Carayol forced a tie breaker against Murphy. Carayol fell 1-6. 6-7 (1).
De Almeida was defeated by Dean 1-6, 3-6. Riecken was defeated by Ostojic 2-6, 1-6. Zottele fell to Puente 0-6, 2-6.
Nadai dropped her match to Brown 3-6, 3-6. Salomao fell to Budin 2-6, 0-6.
