Softball Falls to Cal in Both Halves of Doubleheader

California, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped a pair of PSAC West contest to host California Friday afternoon.
 
In the opener, the Scots fell 6-2 and in the night cap Edinboro dropped a 7-2 decision.
 
Stephanie Krick put the Scots on the board first when she plated Antonia Schaefer with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning of game one. Cal grabbed the lead in the second with a pair of runs.
 
The Vulcans extended their lead with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mackenzie Quider trimmed the lead to 5-2 when she doubled home Maura Pasquale in the top of the sixth. Cal tallied an insurance run in the sixth to set the final.
 
Quider led the offense with a pair of hits and an RBI. Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing six runs, five earned, with one strikeout and three walks over six innings of work.
 
In the second game, Caleigh Rister hit a three-run homer in the second to put Cal up in the second inning.
 
Quider singled home Schaefer and Lauren Bush with a single in the top of the third to cut the lead to 3-2, but Cal answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and an insurance run in the fourth to set the final.
 
Bush took the loss in the circle allowing six runs, five earned with a strikeout and two walks.
 
The Scots return to action on Saturday when they host Slippery Rock at McConnell Family Stadium for a PSAC doubleheader.
