Erie, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team fell twice to visiting Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon in a PSAC West doubleheader at McConnell Family Stadium. The Scots dropped the opener 4-2 and then fell 2-1 in the night cap.
In the opener, Slippery Rock struck first when Cami Fisk singled home Arielle Brown in the top of the first.
Mackenzie Quider provided the answer for Edinboro in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run.
The Rock retook the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth.
Kayla Terwilliger trimmed the Rock lead to 3-2 with a sacrifice fly that plated
Kearson Wagner. Mackenzie Freeman singled home an insurance run for Slippery Rock to set the final.
Dylan Claycomb took the loss in the circle allowing three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks over four innings of work.
Macy Sral struck out four in three innings of one-run relief.
Quider finished the game 2-for-2 with a pair of walks. Oliva Weller also notched a pair of hits in three at bats.
In the second game,
Morgan Spitler gave the Scots a 1-0 lead on a solo shot in the bottom of the second. Aubrey Mansfield tied the game with a pinch-hit solo homer in the fifth. Brown gave the Rock the lead 2-1 with double that plated Anna Villies later in the inning.
Lauren Bush allowed two runs, one earned, over seven innings while allowing six hits and striking out five.
The Scots are back in action on Tuesday when they host Gannon. The PSAC West doubleheader is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
