Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team went off scoring five times in the second half to earn a 6-0 victory over visiting Clarion Wednesday night in PSAC West action.
Sophia Depew got the scoring started for the Scots in the 22
nd minute when she got her right foot on a Maggie Hayes corner kick to make it 1-0.
The Scots would carry that lead into the break.
Layne Kimple opened the flood gates when she chipped a high-arcing shot from 25-yards out over the keeper in the 52
nd minute.
Just over four minutes later
Jenna Jackson took a pass, turned inside the box dribbling around a defender to get off a shot that trickled across the line to make it 3-0.
In the 64
th minute,
Allison Vescio got loose down the right sideline and sent a cross into the box that found the foot of
Megan Malits just inside the left post to make it 4-0.
Emily Vogel scored her fourth of the season running onto the end of a through ball from
Reece Enochs and finishing to the right of the outstretched keeper to run the score to 5-0 in the 72
nd minute.
Enochs added her name to the goal column in the 78
th minute burying a shot off a Vogel rebound to set the final.
The Scots outshot the Golden Eagles 17-11 overall and 11-3 on goal. On a night with six different goal scorers,
Maggie Hays added a pair of assists with helpers on the first two goals.
Kaylee Lauriel made three saves in net earning her second clean sheet in as many games.
The Scots run their record to 2-2-1 overall and 2-1 in PSAC West play and return to action on Saturday when they travel to Slippery Rock for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
