Box Score (New/Sortable Format) Greensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over Seton Hill Tuesday night in the PSAC West opener for both teams.
In the opening set, Edinboro held a 24-21, but Seton Hill scored three straight points to level the score at 24-24. The teams traded points to a 27-27 tie before Paige Cole picked up a kill and a Scot error gave the Griffins a 29-27 win.
The Scots jumped out early in the second building a 12-4 lead. Seton Hill cut the lead to 24-23, but
Jessica Hardin evened the match at a set each with a kill to secure the 25-23 victory.
With the score even at 4-4 in the third, Edinboro went on an 8-1 run led by three kills from
Erika Lindqvist. The Scots would carry the momentum on to a 25-21 win in the third.
Holding a slim 16-15 lead, Edinboro scored four straight with kills from
Jessica Hardin and
Natalie Pallone as well as a pair of Seton Hill errors to take a 20-15 lead. The Griffins used a 5-2 spurt to cut the advantage to 22-20. Kills from Hardin, Lindqvist and
Bella Burrelli closed out the match.
Burrelli led all attackers with 21 kills while also tallying 16 digs. Hardin added 12 kills while Pallone finished with 12 kills.
Abigale Soboleski and
Laney Burns each finished with 25 assists each.
Carly Pry tallied 12 digs and, in the process, became the 16
th Fighting Scot to reach 1,000 career kills. Pallone and
Kasey Smith each tallied six block assists each.
Cole led the Griffins with 20 kills. Catie Flohr added 14 kills while Abby Oesterling dished out 29 assists.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they host Pitt-Johnstown at 4 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
