Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team fell 74-63 to visiting Seton Hill Saturday afternoon in PSAC West action inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The Scots jumped out early to an 11-4 lead paced by four points each with
Madior Seye and
Ryan Ladjevich. Seton Hill answered back with an 11-2 spurt of their own to grab a 15-13 lead on a Jimmy Moon trey at the 12:02 mark of the first.
The Griffins pushed the advantage to 23-19 on another Moon 3-pointer with 8:49 on the clock.
Will Taylor hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 23-21, before Seton Hill scored the next five points to push the lead back out to 28-21. Seye hit a pair of free throws to trim the lead to 28-23, but the Griffins answered with six straight to make it 36-23 with 4:10 to play in the first.
The Scots closed the first half with a 5-0 run with two free throws from
Bernie Blunt, a Seye free throw and Taylor layup to cut the halftime deficit to 36-28.
Seton Hill scored the first four points of the second half to make it 40-28. The Scots cut the lead back to seven, 42-35, with a 7-2 spurt capped by a
Daunte Wilcott layup with 15:28 on the clock. The lead pushed back to 10, 48-38, before Wilcott scored another layup to make it 48-40 with 10:53 remaining.
The Griffins opened up the lead using a 11-5 run to make it 59-45 with 7:01 to play after a pair of Ryan Meis free throws. The Seton Hill advantage would grow as large as 17 and the Scots wouldn't get closer than 11 down the stretch.
Seye scored 18 points to go with nine rebounds and four helpers to pace the Edinboro offense. Wilcott chipped in 13 points, six boards and four helpers.
Meis paced the Griffins with 14 points to go with three steals. Sean Dillon tallied 13 points and Kedrick Curtis tallied 10.
The Scots are back in action on Monday when they host Slippery Rock at 7:30 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
