Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The Scots trailed 15-12 in the first set when a
Rita Campos kill sparked a 9-1 lead putting Edinboro ahead 21-16. The Rock closed the gap to 24-22, but an
Erika Lindqvist kill gave the Scots the opening set.
In the second set, Edinboro held a 23-19 lead before five straight points from Slippery Rock gave the Rock set point. Lindqvist tallied a kill to knot the score 24-24 and
Faith Schneider gave the Scots the lead 25-24.
Carly Pry delivered a service ace to put the Scots up 2-0.
The Rock took the third set 25-22 but jumped out 20-11 in the fourth and held off a late Slippery Rock push to take the fourth 25-20.
Makayla Neelands led the Scot attack with 12 kills. Lindqvist and
Jessica Hardin each tallied 10 kills.
Abigale Soboleski notched 31 assists and with her third helper of the match she reached the 1,000 assist plateau.
Lindqvist notched seven blocks on the day to lead the defense.
Kasey Smith added five blocks. Pry notched a team-high 22 digs.
Erica Selfridge led the Rock with 24 kills. Jaeden Yost notched a game-high five service aces.
The Scots are back in action on Tuesday with a trip to Clarion. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
