Johnstown, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team will play a pair of PSAC West contests on Friday and Saturday.
The Games
Edinboro travels to Pitt-Johnstown on Friday night at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Scots travel to IUP with another 6 p.m. start.
Last Time Out
The Scots are coming off a 3-1 victory over California (PA) on Saturday.
Makayla Neelands led the Scots with 22 kills.
Erika Lindqvist and
Kasey Smith also reached double-figure kills with 13 and 10 respectively.
Emma Hiott led the Scots in blocks with four and
Carly Pry led the team in digs with 23.
Abigale Soboleski triggered the offense with 47 assists.
Offensive Leaders
Neelands leads the Scots with 248 kills to go with 23 service aces.
Jessica Hardin adds 170 kills and 18 aces while Lindqvist adds 135 kills.
Defensive Leaders
Lindqvist has led the Edinboro block efforts with 54 blocks including 14 solos. Hiott adds 35 blocks. Pry leads the team in digs with 231 and passed the 1,500 career dig mark with her performance against Cal. She is currently seventh in Edinboro history in career digs.
Scouting the Mountain Cats
UPJ brings a 13-1 overall and 1-0 record in the PSAC West. The Mountain Cats defeated Slippery Rock 3-2 on Friday. Lualis Alvarado notched 29 kills and Adiamar Beaz triggered the offense with 53 assists. Gabriella DeRenzo led the team with 38 digs while Mallory Pinske notched a team-high five blocks.
Scouting the Crimson Hawks
IUP brings a 10-6 overall record and 0-2 PSAC West mark into the weekend. Last time out, the Crimson Hawks dropped a 3-1 non-conference decision to Walsh. Nyla Birch led the offense with 15 kills and Olivia Heidel paced the Crimson Hawks with 46 assists. Bailey Flowerdew led IUP with 17 digs against the Cavaliers.
