Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team jumped out early and never gave up control winning 83-55 over host Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon in PSAC crossover play.
 
The Scots scored the first five points of the game on a Cenker Evran putback and Steve Kelly triple. Bloomsburg answered with a 6-3 spurt to cut the lead to 8-6 with 16:08 left in the first. Michael Dunn and Kelly hit back-to-back triples to push the lead back out 14-6 with 13:48 on the clock. Louie Wild hit a 3-pointer for the Huskies before Bryce Baez made a layup and Dunn hit another triple to extend the Edinboro lead to 19-9.
 
Bloomsburg scored the next four points to cut the lead to 19-13 with 13:08 to play in the first half. Edinboro used four 3-pointers as part of a 14-4 run pushing the lead to 33-17 with 9:35 on the clock. The Huskies scored five straight points to cut the lead to 33-22 with 4:36 left in the first. Edinboro closed the half on a 9-2 run to take a 42-24 lead into the break.
 
Evran pushed the Edinboro lead to 20, 54-34, with a layup at the 15:20 mark of the second half. Bloomsburg got as close as 56-39 after a Kent Olewiler layup, but the Scots came back with a 10-2 run capped by a Duante Wilcott layup to make the score 66-41.
 
The Huskies scored four in a row to get as close as 66-45 with 8:43 to play. Edinboro responded with a 12-0 run to take a 78-45 lead on a Kelly layup with 4:05 to play. The Scot lead never fell below 25 the rest of the way.
 
The Scots shot 17-of-34 from beyond the arc while holding the Huskies to 3-of-21 from 3-point range. Edinboro also held a 40-30 advantage on the glass.
 
Dunn paced the Edinboro offense with 22 points including six 3-pointers. He also added six rebounds. Kelly hit five triples adding 19 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Evran notched his eighth double-double of the season scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
 
Wild paced the Huskies with 15 points while Matt Bengel added 13.
 
The Scots are back in action on Jan. 3 with a trip to Clarion. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
