Women’s Swimming Third at Wooster Invitational

Wooster, Ohio – The Edinboro women's swim team set a couple of pool records and closed out the 2024 portion of their schedule at the Wooster Invitational.

In the first final of the weekend, Katelyn Reott, Alexis Schrecongost, Lillian Dilts and Izzy Hanek finished the 200-freestyle relay in a pool record time of 1:35.58 taking home first place. The Scots also turned in a fourth-place finish with Avery Zuk, Cara Della Toffalo, Baila Buraga and Abigale Greene teaming up for a time of 1:41.26.

Della Toffalo finished eighth in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:30.64. Emma Beggs reached the A final of the 200-yard individual medley turning in a time of 2:14.47 to take fifth. Bugara was right behind her in sixth touching the wall in 2:14.62.

Edinboro put four swimmers in the top eight of the 50-yard freestyle led Reott with a time of 23.65 which ranks third in Edinboro history. Hanek was second in a time of 24.13 and Schrecongost touched the wall in 24.44 to take third. Dilts finished tied in for sixth with a time of 24.68.

Reott, Schrecongost, Dilts and Hanek teamed up again in the 400-medley relay taking the top spot with a time of 3:58.33. Greene, Beggs, Bugara and Avery Zuk took fifth with a time of 4:07.02.

The top relay team was at it again in the 200-medley relay setting another pool record with a time of 1:44.50 just .03 seconds off the Edinboro school record.

Bugara swam a time of 4:47. 25 in the 400 IM taking fifth place. In the 100-butterfly, Green posted a time of 1:00.89 to take fifth and Dilts was sixth with a time of 1:01.36.

The Scots placed a pair of swimmers in the A final of the 200-freestyle as well. Della Toffalo was fifth in a time of 1:58.07 while Zuk turned in a time of 2:00.34 good for seventh. Schecongost led the pack in the 100-breaststroke taking first in a time of 1:05.08. Beggs added a fourth-place finish touching the wall in 1:08.12.

In the 100-backstroke, Reott notched a second-place finish with a time of 57.85 and Hanek's time of 59.04 placed her in third.

Della Toffalo came in sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:48.15. Hanek topped the podium in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:06.47. In the 100-freestyle, four Scots reached the A final with Reott coming in second with a time of 52.67. Dilts was fifth in a time of 53.39. Schrecongost's 54.32 was good for seventh and Zuk was eighth in a time of 54.73.

Beggs notched a first-place swim in the 200-breaststroke in a time of 2:25.37. Bugara was Edinboro's top finisher in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:15.82.

In the 400-freestyle relay, Hanek, Dilts, Zuk and Reott took first place with a time of 3:33.20.
