Softball Drops a Pair of Games at Clarion

Dubois, Pa. -- The Edinboro softballt team dropped a pair of games to Clarion Sunday afternoon in their PSAC West openers.

The Scots dropped the opener 6-5 and fell 10-9 in nine innings in game two.

How it Happened Game One
Clarion jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings. The Scots got on the board in the fourth when an errant throw allowed Maura Pasquale to score.

The Golden Eagles scored three runs on a three run home run by Desi Allen in the bottom of the fourth. Edinboro rallied in the seventh pushing four runs across to cut the lead to 6-5, but came up just short in the final frame.

Stat Leaders
Morgan Spitler was 2-for-4 at the plate. Lauren Bush was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs batted in. Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing six runs on 10 hits while striking out three.

How it Happened Game Two
The Scots trailed 6-5 heading to the seventh. Down to their last strike, Lucy Higley hit a three run homer over the right field fence to give the Scots an 8-6 lead. Clarion tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. 

Addy Maguire hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth, but Clarion answered in the bottom of the frame with a sacrifice fly. The Golden Eagles walked the game off on a single in the bottom of the ninth.

Stat Leaders
Maguire led the offensive out put going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. Stephanie Krick and Kayla Terwilliger each notched a pair of hits. Jordan Lauer took the loss in the circle allowing two runs, one earned, over 1.2 innings of relief.

Next Up
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they travel to IUP. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
