Softball Splits Doubleheader with IUP

Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro softball team split a PSAC West doubleheader with IUP on Friday afternoon at the Edinboro Softball Field.

The Scots fell in the opener 9-3 before rallying for an 8-7 walkoff win in game two.

How it Happened Game One
IUP jumped out 4-0 with a pair of runs each in the second and third innings. Delaney Patella hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to cap a 5-run frame to push the lead to 9-0.

Maura Pasquale extended the contest with a two-run blast of her own in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 9-2. Kearson Wagner brought home Isabella Becker in the bottom of the sixth to trim the lead to 9-3, but that was as close as Edinboro would get.

Stat Leaders Game One
Pasquale notched a pair of hits to lead the Scot offense. Adeline Maguire notched a hit and a run scored.

Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing nine runs on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts. Annalise Smith pitched 3.2 innings of shutout relief.

How it Happened Game Two
Trailing 6-3 in the fifth, Stephanie Krick led off the frame with a hit by pitch. After a ground out, Lauren Bush drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Lucy Higley singled home Krick and moved Bush to third. An infield single from Wagner loaded the bases and Morgan Spitler trimmed the lead to 6-5 with an RBI single. Becker tied the game with a single of her own, but an IUP pitching change left the bases loaded with the score tied 6-6.

The Crimson Hawks pushed across a run in the top of the seventh to take a 7-6 lead. With one out in the bottom of the frame, Spiter reached on a fielding error and advanced to second on a Becker walk. Kayla Terwilliger hit a ball that was bobbled by the second baseman loading the bases. Maguire hit a line drive to right that popped out of the fielder's glove tying the game 7-7 and loading the bases again with just one out. Krick was the hero with a walkoff single through the middle scoring Becker and setting the 8-7 final.

Stat Leaders Game 2
Lauren Bush was 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Wagner tallied two hitts and an RBI. Krick added a single, two runs scored and an RBI.

Bush also picked up the win in the circle allowing seven runs, five earned, in a complete game with six strikeouts.
