Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro softball team split a PSAC West doubleheader with visting Clairon Sunday afternoon at the Edinboro softball field.
The Scots fell 16-1 in the opener and then bounced back with a 7-6 victory in game two.
How it Happened Game 1
The Golden Eagles took advantage of a tough fielding first inning to score nine runs aided by two home runs and four Edinboro errors. Clarion scored three more runs in the second to push the lead to 12-0. Maura Pasqulae picked up an RBI single in the third before Clarion added four more insurance runs to set the final in five.
Stat Leaders
Kearson Wagner finished the opener 2-for-2. Pasquale, Lucy Higley and
Kayla Terwilliger each picked up a hit.
Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing seven runs, two earned, in the opening inning.
How it Happened Game Two
With the scored tied 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth, Addy Maguire put a ball in play with two outs and a Clarion miscue allowed
Isabella Becker to score the go-ahead run.
Lauren Bush made the lead hold up with a scoreless top of the seventh.
The Scots got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning taking advantage of a pair of Clarion errors and on a Becker RBI hit by pitch. Clarion tied the game in the top of the second, but
Stephanie Krick gave Edinboro the lead back in the bottom of the frame with an RBI double. The Golden Eagles tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fourth, but Maguire provided the answer with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.
Stat Leaders
Maguire was 3-for-3 in the second game with an RBI and three runs scored. Krick, Pasquale and Bush each tallied a hit and a run scored. Bush tossed a complete game to pick up the win allowing six runs, five earned, with seven strikeouts.
