Softball Drops Pair of Games to Gannon

Erie, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team fell in both halves of a PSAC West doubleheader with Gannon Thursday afternoon at McConnell Family Stadium.
 
The Scots fell 9-2 in the opener and had a late rally come up short in a 7-3 loss in the second half of the doubleheader.
 
How it Happened Game One
Maura Pasquale got the scoring started in the bottom of the first with a solo home run. Gannon answered back with three runs in the top of the second. The Scots trimmed the lead to 3-2 with an unearned run in the bottom of the third. The Golden Knights scored three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to set the final.
 
Stat Leaders
Pasquale recorded two of the Scots four hits in the game with a run scored and an RBI. Stephanie Krick was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Lauren Bush took the loss in the circle allowing nine runs over six innings of work with six strikeouts.
 
How it Happened Game Two
Gannon scored twice in the third and once more in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. Bush doubled home Krick in the fourth trimming the lead to 3-1. The Golden Knights scored three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-1. Lucy Higley hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 7-3, but that was as close as the Scots would get.
 
Stat Leaders
Higley was 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Krick was also 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Lexi Frisina allowed five runs on 11 hits over 5.1 innings of work. She struck out two and walked two.
 
Up Next
The Scots are back in action on Friday with a trip to California. The Scots and Vulcans will square off at 2:30 p.m.
