Softball Falls on the Road at California (PA)

California, Pa. -- The Edinboro softball team dropped both halves of a PSAC West doubleheader to host California (PA) Friday afternoon.

The Scots fell 9-1 in the opener and then dropped a 7-1 decision in the second game.

How it Happened Game One
Cal took advantage of an Edinboro error in the bottom of the fourth, pushing across nine unearned runs to take a 9-0 lead. Kayla Terwilliger singled home Kearson Wagner in the top of the fifth to trim the lead to 9-1 but it wasn't enough to extend the game with the Vulcans invoking the run rule.

Stat Leaders
Wagner led the offense going 2-for-2 with a run scored. Terwilliger and Stephanie Krick each went 1-for-2 in the contest. Macy Sral took the loss in the circle going 3.2 innings allowing four hits and nine unearned runs. She struck out one and walked five.

How it Happened Game Two
Maura Pasquale gave the Scots a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when she doubled home Elizabeth Clark. The Vulcans tallied six runs in the fourth keyed by a 3-run homer from Alyssa Rose to grab a 6-1 advantage. Cal tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to set the final.

Stat Leaders
Pasquale's double was the Scots only hit in game two. Clark reached base twice drawing a pair of walks. Lauren Bush took the loss on the rubber allowing six runs on nine hits over 3.2 innings of work.

Up Next
The Scots will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they host Slippery Rock in their final game of the 2024 regular season. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
