Softball Splits PSAC West Doubleheader at Mercyhurst

Erie, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team took one of two from host Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Softball Field.
 
The Lakers took the opener 4-0 while the Scots tallied a 5-4 extra innings victory in the night cap.
 
How It Happened Game One
Mercyhurst took advantage of two Edinboro errors to score three runs in the first inning. Alexa North held the Scots to just five hits and kept them off the scoreboard.
 
Stat Leaders
Each of Maura Pasquale, Stephanie Krick, Elizabeth Clark, Madalyn Valoroso and Lucy Higley picked up a hit for the Scots. Macy Sral took the loss in the circle tossing six innings allowing four runs, two earned, while striking out five.
 
How It Happened Game Two
Edinboro trailed 3-0 heading to the sixth. Adeline Maguire led off the sixth with a walk and moved to third on a Pasquale double. Krick singles home Maguire to cut the lead to 3-1. After a pitching change and a pop up, Lauren Bush doubled home Krick and Pasquale to knot the game at 3-3.
 
Kayla Terwilliger gave the Scots a lead with an RBI double in the eighth and then came around to score on an Isabella Becker sacrifice fly to make it 5-3. The Lakers scored once in the eighth, but Lauren Bush was able to shut it down and earn the win.
 
Stat Leaders
Higley finished game two 2-for-3 with a walk. Bush was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Bush also scored the win in the circle allowing four runs on 10 hits over eight innings of work with two strikeouts and no walks.
 
Up Next
The Scots are back in action on Tuesday with a trip to Gannon. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. at McConnell Family Stadium.
