Offensive Explosion Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Pitt-Johnstown

Edinboro, Pa. – The offense erupted for Edinboro women's soccer as they topped visiting Pitt-Johnstown 7-0 Saturday afternoon in PSAC West play inside Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Scots first goal came in the 19th minute when a tic-tac-toe passing play from Teaghan Watkins and Samantha Saylor ended up on the foot of Reece Enochs who buried the chance to make it 1-0.

Saylor would get a goal of her own taking the ball away from a UPJ defender and beating a pair of Mountain Cats into the 18 finishing just inside the left post  to make it 2-0 in the 38th minute. Edinboro took that 2-0 lead into the break.

Addison Thomas extended the lead in the 54th minute when she shot through traffic and found room inside the left post to make it 3-0. Emily Vogel got on the board in the 80th minute settling a long ball from Enochs and chipping the ball past the keeper extending the lead to 4-0.

Edinboro would tack on insurance tallies in the final six minutes from Chiara Cavicchiolo, Saylor and Kylee Cross to set the final.

The Scots outshot the Mountain Cats 16-9 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Scots seven goals was their highest total since scoring seven against UPJ on October 25, 2017.

Saylor finished the day with two goals and an assist to lead the offense. Enochs added a goal and two helpers. Cross also recorded multiple points with a goal and an assist. Sandra Malave picked up her first collegiate shutout making four saves.

The Scots are back in action next Saturday when they travel to IUP for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff against the Crimson Hawks.
