Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with visiting Malone Thursday night in their season opener at Sox Harrison Stadium. 

After a scoreless first half, Baylee Welling opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal cleaning up a bobbled ball in the box and finding the back of the net in the 50th minute.

Malone pushed back and notched the equalizer in the 74th minute on a goal by Alyssa Schofield assisted by Gabrielle McCourt.

The Pioneers held a 15-4 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. 

Welling paced the offense with her goal and a pair of shots. Kaylee Lauriel made seven saves between the pipes.

The Scots return to action on Saturday with a trip to Ursuline. Game time is set for noon.
