Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's swim team posted a strong showing defeating California (Pa.) 150-51 and going to the wire before dropping a 101-99 decision to Clarion.
The Scots had a strong showing and got out to a fast start in the 200 medley relay with the quartet of
Katelyn Reott,
Alexis Schrecongost,
Lillian Dilts and
Izzy Hanek taking first place with a time of 148.25.
Cara Della Toffalo kept the momentum going for the Scots posting a time of 11:14.85 in the 1,000-freestyle to win the event.
Eliza Miller made her Edinboro debut in a big way on Saturday scoring three first-place finishes. In the 200-free style, she turned in a time of 1:53.17 finishing over four seconds ahead of Clarion's Joslyn Jurski. She also touched the wall first in the 100-freestyle with a time of 53.03. Miller and Della Toffalo teamed up in the 500-free going one-two with times of 5:11.01 and 5:28.59 respectively.
The Scots turned in the top two swims in the 100-backstroke. Hanek and Reott were neck and neck at the finish with Hanek taking the win in 1:00.76 and Reott touching in 1:00.79. Reott finished second in the 50-freestyle finishing in 24.34 just .02 of a second behind Hannah Greenway.
In the 400 individual medley,
Baila Bugara finished second with a time of 4:51.82 while
Emma Beggs touched the wall in 5:02.01 to take third.
Schrecongost added an individual second place finish of her own in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:01.68. She was also second in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:09.88.
Emma Beggs was third finishing in 1:10.60.
The 200-freestyle relay team of Dilts, Abigale Greene,
Avery Zuk and Hanek were second with a time of 1:39.64.
The Scots wrap up the regular season with a trip to Gannon on Friday. The meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
