Greensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped a 79-63 decision to host Seton Hill on Wednesday night in PSAC West action inside the McKenna Center.
With the teams tied 33-33 at the break, Seton Hill opened the second half on a 9-2 run taking a 42-35 lead on a Camden Brewer 3-pointer with 16:19 on the clock.
Michael Dunn hit a triple to cut the lead to 42-38 on the next possession, but the Griffins scored 11 straight points capped by a Gabe Gillespie layup to extend the lead to 53-38 with 12:32 to play.
The Scots cut the lead to 11, 56-45, on a
Ryan Ladjevich 3-pointer at the 9:12 mark, but that was as close as they would get after Seton Hill scored five in a row on a Brewer triple and Edir Ortiz layup to push the lead back to 61-45 with 6:32 left on the clock.
Seton Hill built an early 14-7 lead after a Gillespie layup at the 14:38 mark of the first half. Two
Cenker Evran layups and a
Daunte Wilcott 3-pointer leveled the score 14-14 with 12:24 left in the opening frame.
The Griffins took the lead back 21-17 on an Ortiz layup with 10:29 to play in the first. Edinboro grabbed their first lead of the night, 27-26, after an Evran layup at the 4:21 mark. Evran extended the lead with another bucket with 3:59 on the clock making it 29-26 Scots.
The Scot lead was still three, 31-28, after a
Steve Kelly basket with 1:59 left in the opening half. A pair of Ryan Meis free throws cut the lead to 31-30. Meis gave Seton Hill a 33-31 advantage with a trey with 36 seconds left and Kelly tied the score heading to the locker room with jumper in the lane at the 6 second mark.
Evran led all scorers with 30 points to go with 16 rebounds and two assists. Ladjevich tallied seven points while dishing out eight assists and grabbing seven boards.
Meis paced the Griffin offense with 26 points and four assists. Gillespie notched 14 points while Brewer finished with 10.
The Scots return to action on Saturday hosting California (Pa.) at 3 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
