Softball Drops Pair of Contests to Pitt-Johnstown

Johnstown, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team fell in both ends of a PSAC West doubleheader to host Pitt-Johnstown on Friday.

The Scots fell 5-0 in the opener before falling 4-3 in the nightcap.

Game One
In the opener, Pitt-Johnstown opened the scoring on an RBI single by Mia Smith. Gianna Surra extended the led with another RBI single later in the bottom of the third.

Surra doubled home a pair of runs in the fifth to push the lead to 4-0. Meghan McDonough drove home an insurance run in the sixth to set the final.

Emalie Thomas led the Edinboro offense with a 2-for-3 day. Isabelle Bavaro and Hilary Sissem each tallied picked up a hit.

Giana Ficcaglia took the loss in the circle allowing four runs over 4.2 innings pitched while striking out three.

Game Two
In the second contest, Pitt-Johnstown took the lead with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the second, Isabella Becker doubled and came around to score on an Ashley Rose sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 2-1.
