KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Edinboro women's soccer team had their postseason run end with a 3-0 loss to No. 4 Kutztown on Tuesday.
Brianna Garey was tested early, saving shots from Maura Day at 2:04 and Giavanna Marciano at 11:24 as the Golden Bears had the first four shots and an early corner. The Golden Bears broke through at 12:53 when Corinne Morgan scored off an assist from Carly Louey for a 1-0 lead. Garey stopped another Louey shot at 13:12. The Scots recorded a shot at 23:50, when
Sonoka Shiokawa put an attempt on frame that Morgan O'Donnell saved. Garey added a save on Lauren Stoudt at 32:11, and the Golden Bears generated five corner kicks from 33:47 through 43:13 before the first half ended with the Scots trailing 1-0.
The Golden Bears put the Fighting Scots under pressure early in the second half, forcing a Garey save at 48:10 before Maura Day converted a penalty kick at 49:40. The Golden Bears continued to push from 60:53 through 72:20, earning six corner kicks, multiple shots on goal that Garey saved and a Corinne Morgan attempt off the right woodwork, but the Scots kept the score at 2-0 through that sequence. Day scored again at 74:20 to make it 3-0.
Claire Cacurak put one shot on frame and another wide, but the Scots couldn't come breakthrough.
Garey recorded 15 saves over 90 minutes, making six in the first half and nine in the second. Cacurak led the Scots with two shots and put one on goal.
