Indiana, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped both ends of their PSAC doubleheader at IUP on Monday afternoon.

The Scots dropped both games by identical 13-5 scores the opener in five innings and the nightcap in six.

In the first contest, IUP jumped out early with a seven run second inning with five of those being unearned. Edinboro answered in the top of the third with an RBI double by
Cassidy Weller and
Isabelle Bavaro plating two on a single to center.

The Crimson Hawks tacked on five runs in the fourth to go up 12-3. Another RBI for Weller and a run scoring double by
Adeline Maguire extended the game cutting the advantage to 12-5 in the top of the fifth. The Crimson Hawks pushed across a run in the bottom of the frame to invoke the run rule.

Weller was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Isabella Becker added two hits and a pair of runs scored.
Giana Ficcaglia took the loss in the circle going two innings allowing seven runs, two earned with one strikeout and three walks.

In the nightcap, the teams were tied 1-1 after two. Bavaro singled home Becker to put the Scots up 2-1 in the top of the third. Maguire extended the lead with an RBI single to score
Hilary Sissem.

A three-run triple from Jess Cekada put the Crimson Hawks up 4-3 in the bottom of the third. Sissem tied the game with an RBI single in the fourth. IUP scored three more in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth to take the game 13-5.

Bavaro,
Ashley Rose and
Mia Rogers each tallied a pair of hits for the Scots.
Grace Kessel took the loss on the rubber allowing 13 runs, 11 earned, with three strikeouts and seven walks.

The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host Seton Hill in their home opener at 2:30 p.m.
