GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Edinboro softball teams dropped both halves of a PSAC West doubleheader with Seton Hill Saturday afternoon.
The Scots dropped the opener 11-2 and fell in the nightcap 15-6.
The Griffins jumped out early scoring six runs on six hits and a walk in the bottom of the first inning. Seton Hill extended the lead in the with four more runs in the bottom of the second to make it 10-0. The Griffins tacked on a run in the third to make it 11-0.
Alara Bem put the Scots on the board with an RBI single in the top of the fourth scoring
Adeline Maguire, but
Emalie Thomas was thrown out at the plate ending the inning. Edinboro scored again in the top of the fifth when
Cassidy Weller hit a ball hard to right that was misplayed allowing
Isabella Becker to score, but that was all the Scots would get ending the game with the run rule.
Bem led the offense with one hit in one at-bat and an RBI. Maguire and Becker both added a hit with a run scored.
The Edinboro bats came alive early in the second game. After the first two outs of the inning, Weller doubled.
Isabelle Bavaro singled plating Weller to go up 1-0. Maguire hit a double to bring home Bavaro and push the lead to 2-0.
Adoria Waldier hit an single and traded places with Maguire as she came around to score.
Abigail Olejniczak drew a walk and Lucy Higley doubled home a pair to extend the advantage to 5-0. Bem singled and Becker singled home Higley to make it 6-0 after one.
The Griffins answered in the bottom of the second cutting the lead to 6-4 on a Lacey Lynn grand slam.
Abby Dejidas gave Seton Hill the lead 7-6 singling with the bases loaded scoring two and a Scot error allowed a third run to score. The Griffins would push one more across on the base paths to make it 8-6 after three innings.
Seton Hill used four hits, two walks and an Edinboro error to push across seven runs in the bottom of the fourth extending the lead to 15-6. The Scots put a pair of runners on in the fifth, but couldn't push a run across to extend the game.
Maguire and Waldier each notched two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Higley finished 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.
The Scots are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Canisius. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
