Softball Falls in Doubleheader to IUP

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team dropped both halves of a PSAC doubleheader to visiting IUP Thursday afternoon.
 
The Scots fell 17-0 in the first game and then dropped the second contest 9-0.
 
In the opener the Crimson Hawks used a 12 run second inning to build a 13-0 lead and kept the Scots off the board to earn the win.
 
Isabella Becker notched the only hit for the Scots in the first game. Giana Ficcaglia took the loss allowing eight runs, four earned, in 1.2 innings on seven hits with four strikeouts.
 
The Crimson Hawks struck again in the second of the second game pushing three runs across on four hits to take a 3-0 lead. Reagan Rand hit a grand slam in the top of the third to extend the lead to 7-0. IUP added insurance runs in each of the fourth and fifth to set the 9-0 final.
 
Adeline Maguire finished 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Edinboro offense. Grace Kessel took the loss in the circle allowing eight runs in 3.0 innings of work with two strikeouts.
 
The Scots return to action on Friday when they host Pitt-Johnstown at 2 p.m.
