LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The Edinboro women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Lock Haven on Saturday in PSAC West action.
The Scots generated the first chances of the half, with
Samantha Saylor sending a shot left at 4:29 before the Scots earned a pair of early corner kicks. The Bald Eagles answered with consecutive corners of their own and a wide attempt from Allison Green. Edinboro pushed back as
Jada Cole forced a save from Devon Mason at 18:54. The Scots sustained pressure through the middle of the half, getting shots from Saylor, Cole,
Grace Madison,
Abriella Whatmore and
Hailey Marchlewski while adding three corners between 25:27 and 33:25.
Brianna Garey saved Maci Shaffer's shot at 37:48 during a late Bald Eagles push, and the teams went into the half scoreless.
After a Bald Eagles corner in the 52nd minute, Maci Shaffer scored assisted by Allison Green and Lily O'Brien to put Lock Haven ahead 1-0. The Scots generated a response with Cole sending a shot over the net 57:45,
Sydney Patterson hit the crossbar at 61:07 and Edinboro earning a corner at 63:18 during a stretch that included seven fouls between the teams.
The Bald Eagles kept pressure on late with corners at 70:36, 78:41 and 81:29, while Garey saved Riley Egresits' shot at 75:34 to keep the margin at one. The Scots pushed again late with
Aviana Valdez shooting wide left at 80:14, Cole adding another attempt at 87:07 and the Scots earning a corner at 87:13, but the Bald Eagles held off the Scots for the 1-0 result.
Cole finished with four shots, including one on goal. Saylor also recorded four shots for the Scots. Garey made two saves taking the loss in net.
The Fighting Scots host Gannon University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
