Football at Edinboro                
Was a three-year starter at free safety for the Fighting Scots after playing wide receiver as a freshman ... all told started 34 games ... was also an excellent punt returner ... in 2010 finished with 51 tackles and had one interception, along with two fumble recoveries and a pair of passes broken up ... averaged 5.8 yards on 10 punt returns ... as a junior started all 13 games as Edinboro reached the Super Region One semifinals and finished with a 9-4 record ... ended the year third in tackles with 71, and was second on the team with three interceptions ...   broke up a pair of passes ... averaged 18.4 yards on eight punt returns, including an 83-yarder for a touchdown against Lock Haven ... in 2008 finished with 45 tackles, an interception and a pass broken up, along with averaging 9.3 yards on nine punt returns ... caught 6 passes for 116 yards in 2007.

High School                
A standout in both basketball and football at nearby General McLane High School ... served as the starting point guard for the Lancers, leading General McLane to the state semifinals as a senior before losing to Franklin ... Lancers won District 10 championship ... scored over 1,000 points in his career ... was a second team All-Region 5 selection his second year after earning first team accolades as a junior ... named to All-ECL honorable mention team as a sophomore.

Born September 4, 1987 … full name is Ben Alexander Swank … doing student teaching after graduating in Health & Physical Education -- Teacher’s Certification major with a minor in Coaching ... had a 3.46 GPA … son of Gail and Stan Swank … has one brother …father is the head coach of the Edinboro women’s basketball team and played baseball at Purdue.
