After playing for the men’s basketball team for over two years, Lynch has turned his attention to coaching. He joined the women’s basketball staff as a student assistant late last year, and is now in his first full season as a student assistant coach for Stan Swank. Lynch is completing work on his bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
Lynch saw action in 15 games as a reserve guard for the men’s basketball team in 2013-14 and 2014-15. He scored 21 career points, with six rebounds. He scored a career-best six points against PSU Dubois as a sophomore.
He played his high school basketball at nearby Cathedral Prep in Erie. During his time, the Ramblers won three PIAA AAAA District 10 championships and reached the PIAA quarterfinals twice and the semifinals once. The Ramblers were 23-3 in 2012-13, his senior year, losing to New Castle in the PIAA quarterfinals, and 21-6 in 2011-12, reaching the state semifinals before falling to Lower Merion. He played in 16 games as a senior, missing time with an injury, and averaged 3.7 ppg. As a junior, he averaged 3.3 ppg. in 26 games.
Lynch isn’t the only member of his family involved in athletics. His brother, Matt, is the Director of Operations for Youngstown State men’s basketball team, and his sister, Lindsey, serves as Edinboro’s cheerleading coach.
