Jimmy Chan is in his eighth season as the assistant coach to Missy Soboleski after being hired in July of 2009. Edinboro has compiled 157 wins in his seven seasons, with back-to-back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional in 2009-11 and two straight appearances the last two years..

Chan has 21 years of experience as a volleyball coach at various levels, including a five-year stint as the head coach of the St. John Fisher volleyball team. He posted a 65-85 record from 2002-06. His 2005 edition finished with a 16-15 record. The Cardinals finished third in the Empire 8 Conference regular season then reached the Empire 8 Tournament semifinals. Chan was recognized as the Empire 8 Coach of the Year. He also guided the Cardinals to 16 wins in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Chan served as a math teacher at Canandaigua Academy in Canandaigua, NY, since 2000. He has also been heavily involved in coaching club teams, including the Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club from 2007-09.

Chan is a graduate of Brockport State, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a certification in Secondary Education in 2000. He completed work on his master’s degree in Mathematic Education in 2007 from Brockport State and has previously been an instructor in the Mathematics Department at Edinboro.
