Lee Anderson enters his fourth season as Edinboro’s women’s volleyball assistant coach after joining the program in September 2017. Anderson brings plenty of experience to the bench for the Fighting Scots, with over twenty years of experience on the collegiate level, including 15 years as a head coach.
Anderson joined Edinboro after serving as the head coach at the University of Minnesota Crookston for ten years from 2007-06. Coaching a team playing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, one of the top volleyball conferences in the country, Anderson led a rebuilding process for a Golden Eagles’ program with a limited volleyball reputation\.
His turnaround of the program began during the 2011 season as the Golden Eagles posted 12 wins after going winless during the 2010 campaign. After an 11-16 finish in 2012, the 2013 Minnesota Crookston squad registered the best season in school history. They finished at 15-14, a school for victories, qualifying for the NSIC Tournament for the first time in program history.
The growth of the program was attributed to Anderson’s ability to recruit. Anderson brought in several players who were among the NSIC's best during his tenure, led by four-time All-NSIC selection Brittany Looker, the all-time kills leader at UMC, who was an All-NSIC First Team pick in 2014, and Chelsea Wiesner, the all-time digs leader in school history.
Prior to his appointment at Minnesota Crookston, Anderson served as the head coach at Glenville State for two seasons (2005-06). In 2005, the Pioneers had a record of 3-28. His second squad made a seven-game improvement, going 10-17. The 2006 team set a school record for conference wins in a season.
A native of Renfrew (Ontario), Canada, Anderson also served as the assistant women's volleyball coach at Ferris State in 2003 and 2004. During Anderson's tenure as assistant coach, the Bulldogs compiled a record of 41-21, winning the GLIAC Tournament Championship in 2004 and earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Anderson was the head coach for three seasons (2000-03) at Lakehead University (Ontario). He also directed volleyball sport development camps and organized department media conferences during his tenure. In addition to his coaching duties, Anderson served as a practical instructor in the school's Kinesiology Department.
Anderson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa in 1998. In 2000, Anderson earned his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in the art and science of coaching from the University of Calgary.
Anderson resides in Edinboro with his wife Heather Greiser.
