The Edinboro women’s cross country team made it three PSAC championships in four years on Saturday as they edged Shippensburg in the closest race in the history of the race. Leading the way was freshmen Stefanie Parsons, who is Edinboro’s Athlete of the Week for the week of October 16-22.

Parsons led a group of five freshmen to score for Edinboro, as the native of Acton, Ontario finished second in her first PSAC Championship. Parsons posted a time of 23.04.5 over the 6K course at California(Pa.)’s George H. Roadman University Park, moving up from seventh place to second over the final mile.

Edinboro would finish with 87 points to edge defending champion Shippensburg, who had 89 points. The two-point margin was the closest since the competition began in 1980.
