EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2012) – The Edinboro women's soccer team created multiple solid chances during extra time, but settled for a hard-fought 1-1 draw with PSAC rival Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.

Edinboro moves to 10-3-2 on the season and 7-3-2 in the PSAC while Slippery Rock now stands 9-4-2 overall and 6-4-2 in conference play.

Saturday's match was drama-filled as the Fighting Scots rallied from a first half deficit to force overtime.

Lauren Impey got The Rock on the board first in the 28th minute, taking advantage of a free kick following an Edinboro foul. Steph Buckenheimer rolled the ball to Impey who fired a direct shot just inside the near post past the outstretched keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Impey nearly gave The Rock a two goal advantage with another free kick in the 39th minute that ricocheted off the cross bar and bounced directly in front of the net. No attackers were in the vicinity, however, and Edinboro survived the attack unscathed.

The teams took the 1-0 score into halftime, but Edinboro turned up the pressure following intermission, playing much of the second period in the Slippery Rock end. Edinboro's pressure paid off in the 69th minute. Liz Debo beat The Rock keeper on a shot from the right wing at close range for her 12th goal of the year following a pass from senior Kelsey Knoll to tie the score.

Edinboro outshot The Rock 8-1 during the second half, but Slippery Rock had an outstanding chance as the clock ticked down to zero. The Rock appeared to have scored the game-winning goal, but it was ruled to have come after the buzzer, sending the teams to overtime.

Slippery Rock had another opportunity in the 94th minute. Lucy Hannon tried to go low right post, but Edinboro keeper Meghan Kelly made a diving save to preserve the tie.

In the second overtime, Edinboro had its chances to score. Debo broke free of The Rock defense for a one-on-one on the far wing, but goalie Dana O'Neill charged out of the net and deflected the shot. The Fighting Scots then had two corner kicks in the final two and a half minutes but could not break through.

Edinboro held the advantage in shots for the match, 16-7, and corners, 3-2.

Kelly made three saves for Edinboro while O'Neill stopped seven shots.
