Box Score (New/Sortable Format) CLARION, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2012) – Despite 20 digs from
Haley Marett, the Edinboro volleyball team lost to Clarion 3-1 Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Fighting Scots to 8-18 on the season and 5-8 in the PSAC.
Clarion (21-5, 11-2) dropped Edinboro 25-12 in the first set but the Fighting Scots fought back, coming up just short in set two 25-23. The fight continued into the third set, as Edinboro eventually came out victorious 27-25. Clarion battled back in the fourth set, finally putting the match away with a 25-22 set victory.
Tabitha Meeks led the offense for Edinboro with 11 kills.
Marah Maycock added 10 and
Megan Branchick finished with eight.
Erin Schatzle and
Maria Concheck each tallied six in the contest.
Marett led the defense with 20 digs while Meeks and
Nicole Brunot added 12 each. Maycock finished with 11 and Schatzle added nine. Concheck and
Breanna Gardner each had two blocks at the net for Edinboro.
Edinboro is through two games of a five-game road trip against the top teams in the PSAC West. The Fighting Scots travel to California (Pa.) Friday night for a 7 p.m. match. The following day, Edinboro takes on Indiana (Pa.) looking to sweep the Crimson Hawks in the season series after notching a 3-0 victory on Sept. 28. That match is slated to start at 4 p.m. The next home match is scheduled for Nov. 3 against Gannon with a start time set for 3 p.m.
