Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2012) – Edinboro swept visiting Kutztown 3-0 in volleyball action Saturday afternoon. Edinboro took the first two sets 25-21, 25-21, before clinching the match with a 25-23 back-and-forth third set victory.
The Edinboro (7-13, 5-4 PSAC West) offense was extremely balanced, having six players register seven kills or more.
Marah Maycock led the team with 10, but she wasn't alone as
Megan Branchick added nine,
Tabitha Meeks had eight, and
Maria Concheck,
Breanna Gardner, and
Katie Felix had seven apiece. Felix set up much of the offense, also finishing with 32 assists. Meeks continued her strong performance from the service line, recording four aces.
Kutztown (8-14, 0-9 PSAC East) was shut down by the Edinboro defense, being held to a .131 team hitting percentage. Comparatively, Edinboro hit .225 during the match.
Haley Marett had a team-high 20 digs with Felix adding 12 and
Christina Furda adding 11. Concheck added 3 blocks, giving her a team-leading 54 on the season.
Edinboro improves to 7-13 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC West. After starting the season 0-8, the Fighting Scots have rebounded and are 7-5 in their last twelve games. They travel to Amherst, NY for their next match against Daemen Oct. 9 before heading to play rival Gannon Oct. 12. They return home to play Mercyhurst Oct. 13 and Notre Dame (OH) Oct. 16. All matches have a start time slated for 7 p.m.
